Provides strong support for those engaged in home schooling, or helpful practice at home in reading, spelling, grammar, and learning skills, to supplement any school reading and language arts programs. Appropriate for use with average and quicker learners, as well as those who struggle with instructional materials not suited to their learning style, and children learning English as a second language. Designed to be used by a Reader (parent, older sibling, or tutor) and a Learner (beginning or early reader, age 6-8) working together. Volume 2: Consonants' Teams, Books 1 & 2
Continues development of skills in reading, spelling, grammar, writing or storytelling, and "learning to learn," begun in Volume 1. Introduces more complex spelling and sound patterns, and some basic grammar.
Designed to be used by a Reader (parent, older sibling, or tutor) and a Learner (developing reader, age 7 and older) working together. Has also been recommended for ESL adults as a way to improve English grammar and spelling. Carefully constructed activities guide the Reader in supporting and encouraging the Learner to develop greater independence.
Book 1 introduces the different letters and letter teams that can spell each consonant sound and provides practice in reading and spelling these consonant "teams." Also introduces patterns associated with noun, adjective and verb forms. A color-coding system is introduced to assist the Learner in distinguishing different vowel sounds as they occur in different letter combinations. Two appendices, one color-coded, provide answer keys for checking selected exercises. (200 pp., 8 ½" x 11")

Book 2 extends practice with varied consonant and vowel sounds, as well as noun, verb, and adjective forms. The "3 Laws of Spelling" and the "5 WH questions" serve to summarize and review concepts developed in Book 1. Exercises include more reading and writing of stories. The Learner is encouraged to develop more independence in determining what types of practice contribute best to increased learning. A set of Math Stories at the end introduces basic concepts to develop facility in mental addition and subtraction. (200 pp., 8 ½" x 11")

MemArith Program
A mental arithmetic practice tool recommended for students aged 7 to 15 who relish intellectual challenges. Adults who wish to sharpen mental arithmetic skills may also find this tool useful.
An interactive software program written in BASIC on a DOS system, MemArith provides simple to more complex sequences of related arithmetic problems (addition, subtraction, or multiplication) and invites the user to predict each new symbol before it is provided by the program. Speed and level of difficulty are easily adjustable by user. Patterns suggest mental arithmetic shortcuts and promote mathematical reasoning.
